An Open Letter to the Producers of Fox’s Live Production of Grease

An Open Letter to the Producers of Fox’s Live Production of Greasefeatured

I understand that, after the “success” of the live production of The Sound of Music last year, Fox is getting in while the getting’s good with their own live production of Grease next year.

I would like to humbly make my suggestions for the casting of some of the key roles in this production to maximize both talent and entertainment value.

First, for everyone’s favorite good girl, the one and only Sandra Dee…

Anna Kendrick

Anna Kendrick

Why?

Because Anna can sing. And act. She’s adorable as all get-out and she’ll bring a little sass to the squeaky-clean role.

For Sandy’s foil, leader of the Pink Ladies, Rizzo…

Zooey Deschanel

Zooey Deschanel

Why?

Like Anna, Zooey can sing. And act. She can do the “don’t mess with me attitude” as shown in ELF. She can do the “you know you want me” flirt as shown in (500) Days of Summer. And she would absolutely KILL on “There are Worse Things (I Could Do).”

Finally, for the incomparable Danny Zuko…

Joseph Gordon-Levitt

Joseph Gordon-Levitt

Why?

Again, singer. Actor. Dancer!

JGL bringin' sexy back

About as amazing as anyone can possibly be. (I was actually going to put a gif of him dancing in (500) Days of Summer but I found that one first and…can you blame me?)

Seriously. Listen to “You’re the One That I Want” and picture Anna Kendrick and JGL harmonizing on the “Ooh! Ooh! Ooh!”s and just try not to smile.

Now, I understand that these actors may be a bit…mature to play high schoolers, but Stockard Channing was 34 when she played Rizzo. And these three have great skin and are more or less ageless thanks to Hollywood wizardry. So, please, Fox, make this happen.

(I may have found my second calling as casting director.)
