Currently August 2014

August has been hectic, but really good. I feel like I’ve been battling just to stay on track and on top of everything going on, but that’s partly because I’m picking up some new clients and extra work — which is AWESOME. I’ve had lots of little moments of frustration, of why can’t I fit everything in? and If it wasn’t for XYZ I could do this thing and that thing and the other thing and What if I never get caught up? but every day I do get a little caught up, I accomplish something, and I learn a little more about myself and how I work.

It’s also partly because I’ve been DOING ALL THE THINGS on the weekends and trying to make the most of my time with Husband (who’ll be working a good bit of overtime for the next month at least). So it’s all good.

Working: on my new site

Feeling: lucky. blessed. hopeful.

Wearing: shorts and tank tops. anything to stay cool

Reading: The Book Thief

Listening: Steve Miller Band, Journey, Counting Crows (live), Stevie Nicks, Jenny Lewis (on Spotify)

Watching: House of Cards with Husband

Practicing: tracking my time, meditation, writing

Drinking: this wine and this wine (5 bucks at trader joe’s, yo), Belching Beaver’s Peanut Butter Stout and Husband’s latest homebrew

Wanting: to pick up a new knitting project (or two). and a dslr

Hoping: the Giants get on a hot streak

  • Sounds like a great month! Peanut Butter Stout sounds interesting. The brewery that is in our neighborhood, had a salted caramel stout last week, it was surprisingly good! They do a peanut butter banana too but the time I tried it I didn’t pick up very much of either.

    • It’s supposed to be good over ice cream as a beer float, if you’re into that sort of thing. 😉 I’m not a big caramel person but I’m always open to trying beers with interesting flavors.

  • I have The Book Thief on hold at my library. I can’t wait to read it!

I hope that the meditation is going well. I always fail during the meditation part of my yoga class. I can never clear my mind. Suddenly, I will think that my head is clear, and then I realize I am thinking about chocolate chip cookies or whether or not I unplugged my curling iron. I just can’t do it!

    • I just finished it the other night — so good!

The meditation has been okay because they give you a mantra to repeat in your mind, so at least I have *something* to focus on instead of “clearing my mind.” Still really hard though.
