Weekly Wishes: New Site! New Site! Editionfeatured

Weekly Wishes {the ponytail diaries}

I’m linking up with Melyssa at Nectar Collective today to share my wishes/goals for week. Join in!

My life has become absolutely consumed with the MLB postseason. Was up/out way too late on Saturday thanks to one epic Game 2 (shoot, as I write this, I’m still recovering from that one a little). Also, on Friday I went to Chris Guillebeau’s talk and book signing for The Happiness of Pursuit and I cannot wait to read it! Marathon training is still going really well, and…let’s just get to it:

Last Week’s Wishes

01 | get my new site up and running
Yes! I wouldn’t call it 100% “finished” yet, it’s more a beta or 1.0 version, but I got up a couple pages of content and I’m finishing my “Services” page today. Will continue to add stuff (portfolio page and the blog) and make some tweaks, but please, please, stop by AllisonKeltner.com and let me know what you think!

02 | lose the 5 pounds I probably gained in Chi-town
Yeah, this wasn’t the best goal for me — at least the way I worded it, since I don’t weigh myself or track calories or anything. But I did try to make a few more healthier choices last week, like smoothies over junk food for afternoon snacks and adding veggies to meals wherever I could. And yesterday I went to Trader Joe’s to get just a couple things and wound up buying a ton of produce for meals this week, so there’s that (here’s hoping we manage to use everything before it goes bad).

03 | decide if I should try blogtober14 and if so, start planning posts
Decided not to go through with that so I can put my energy towards some other business goals and such.

This Week’s Wishes

01 | set a budget / take care of some financial stuff
We’re switching banks and moving money around in our accounts and I’m making sure I’m carefully tracking all my freelancing income and expenses. I’m so not looking forward to filing taxes the first time as a freelancer…ugh.

02 | master some social media management
Mainly, figure out how to best use social media as the tools they are, rather than let Twitter and Instagram and Pinterest be the giant time-sucks they more often become.

Oh yeah, also, Skillshare is having a giveaway to promote their new photography classes. It’s one of those where I get more entries if people enter using my custom link, so if you want a lifetime Skillshare membership / iPhone 6+ and a bunch of cool phone-ography stuff, you should totally enter here.

What are your goals this week?

  • Hello, stopping by from the linkup! Setting a budget is such a good idea, I need to work on that as well so I know where everything is going. It always helps me when I am aware of how much I am spending. Good luck with your wishes!

    • Thanks for stopping by Amanda! I think most of us would admit to needing a budget…for some reason it’s such a challenging habit to set.

  • My mom always said “you don’t need a budget, just don’t spend your money”. That is one idea that I beg to differ about. Budgeting makes a huge difference for me! I use my online banking as a tool, my bank has an option to set spending caps in each area (groceries, entertainment, ect.) so I don’t go crazy in the shops!
Luck to you this week, and enjoy every moment.

    • That’s great that you have that option with your bank — I tried doing something similar with Mint but I just hate checking my accounts constantly.
