Weekly Wishes: SD Beer Week Editionfeatured

Weekly Wishes

I’m linking up with Melyssa at Nectar Collective today to share my wishes/goals for week. Join in!

I started my first homebrew yesterday! If it comes out, it’ll be an American amber ale with a good deal of hops (Cascade and Galaxy, if you’re curious). I’m nervous because it warmed up again over the weekend and since we don’t have an extra fridge or any kind of temperature control, it’s tough to keep the temperature below 75 degrees, which is sort of the “sweet spot” for the yeast to be most effective. As I understand it, at least. Because when I said “started my first homebrew” I mean my husband directed me every step of the way. Like a little kid who “made” cookies with her mom. Whatever. The point is I have a better understanding of the process start to finish and will be able to do it more independently next time.

Also, now I get to make spent grain pizza dough. Woot.

Last Week’s Wishes

01 | figure out some photo/art/decor options for our walls
Dammit, no. But I did get an idea for my “inspiration board” over my desk. I need to actually make it happen, though.

02 | FINISH all the damn budget and financial stuff.
Sort of. Still have a couple things left. And now Husband is wanting to actually make monthly/weekly budgets so we can track our spending better. I’m really trying to get less…you know, Beaker about dealing with finances. I don’t know why I have so much resistance to it.

03 | blog/website/editorial calendar organization
Made some editorial calendar progress. That’s it.

This Week’s Wishes

01 | yoga at least twice
I did this last week, actually, but on Monday-Tuesday and thought about going both Thursday and Friday but didn’t. I’d rather have my classes be spaced out a bit more.

02 | give onyx a bath
She is so desperately overdue for one. Poor thing, she hates baths.

03 | check out a couple Beer Week events
Is it sad that I have to make doing something fun like this an official “goal”? Please tell me that’s normal.

04 | write some fiction
I finally have an idea for a novel. It’s been in the back of my mind for at least a week now, toying with different possibilities and characters and directions for the plot.

05 | get back to the gym
I’m…indifferent to lifting weights. It’s certainly not my favorite thing in the world, but I know, if I do it right, it’ll help my running. So I’m going to work in a couple lifting sessions each week using this plan (that I found through Tracy) that’s Alberto Salazar- and Kara Goucher-approved. Wish me luck.

What are your goals this week?

  • I think I could do yoga everyday of the week! I need to lift more weights too. It’s hard cause I only think of doing cardio and i’m trying to run 4 days a week. It is normal to pencil in fun! lol Hope you have a great week. 🙂

    • Thanks! Yoga is on of those things that I know I should just get up and do, that I’ll feel better during and afterward, yet sometimes it’s still so hard to get to class or just do some poses at home.

Sounds like you’re in for a fun and productive week! I feel your pain on the whole bathing the dog thing… Bert hates it, but it needs to be done. Good luck with your goals this week, girl!
