I have to say, I’m impressed with myself.
My track record with “photo-a-day” challenges is pretty terrible. I think the furthest I’ve gotten in the past is…60 days or so? Two months, maybe in the third a little bit? So 100 days is really cool.
And, looking back at all the photos is really awesome. I definitely see the appeal of capturing some tiny bit of every single day and collecting them altogether.
I also enjoyed playing with different photo apps (VSCOcam being my favorite) to edit photos. I didn’t love taking 5 minutes to take a picture of my beer glass or whatever because I hate being “that girl” who’s too attached to sharing stupid social media updates instead of, you know, socializing with the people she’s with, so some of my photos are on the crappy side because I was like “one and done.” Dealing with the lighting and awful backgrounds in my apartment wasn’t a piece of cake either.
I’m not sure if this is cool or not, but I found myself on some days thinking “Oh, I’ll be doing XYZ later. That’ll be a good ‘happy days’ picture.” Or “Hmm, I should do something cool today so I can take a good picture.” Or “I need to make sure to look for nice possible pictures when I walk Onyx later.” On one hand, it made me think more carefully about my days and both find things to look forward to and to pay attention to what was happening. On the other hand, that was almost entirely motivated by “I need to take a photo for the challenge today.”
Basically, beer and dogs = likes.
But now? Well, I’m absolutely going to keep going. I’d love to maintain this momentum and take a photo every day in 2015. I may not *share* every single photo, but I think I can pull this off.
I’m going to look for other Instagram photo challenges and possibly come up with some themes/prompts/challenges of my own throughout the year (any suggestions?).
Have you done #100HappyDays or any other photo challenge?
