gratitude52, Week 13 {the ponytail diaries}

gratitude52 (because “52 Weeks of Gratitude” is too much of a mouthful) is a year-long challenge/series on, obviously, gratitude. Read more about the challenge here and all gratitude52 posts here.

I’ll be honest — I am not feeling this week’s gratitude prompt (a challenge you’ve overcome). I’ve racked my brain over this all week and have nothing I really want to share or write about. I’m not sure what that says about me (and, really honestly, I’d prefer not to dive into that right now).

But in thinking about what I should write about this week, I’ve come up with lots of other things I’m grateful for, so instead, I want to share a more traditional “gratitude list.”

1. Daylight Savings Time

I really can’t put into words how much I love, love, love the time change. In the days immediately after, I just felt so much lighter when I noticed “hey, it’s 6:00 and it’s still bright and sunny out!” I don’t really get afflicted with SAD (I really have no excuse, it’s not like we really lose a lot of sunlight around here) but I feel like I can get so much more accomplished on days when it’s still light at 7:00 or later. Although I do end up eating dinner later, but I’m okay with it.

2. Fresh brewed tea

It could be 90 degrees out and I’ll still be boiling water to make a fresh cup of hot tea. On that note, I’m also grateful for Teavana and Starbucks rewards that let me get loose leaf tea for free.

3. Balboa Park

When I first moved to San Diego, I thought Balboa Park was just the zoo. Now I’m there, oh, at least three times a week, either taking Onyx to one of its three dog parks or running the trails. AND now that I’ve found out there’s free wi-fi hotspots I think I’ll be there even more throughout the spring/summer.

4. The library

It just rocks.

5. Gardening

I feel like a total nerd, but I get a real kick out of seeing plants grow taller day by day, blooms sprouting, fruits growing.

Tell me something you’re grateful for — go.
