So, because everyone cares so much about the inner workings of my editorial calendar (which I TOTALLY completed filled in for all of March last week, hah!), I decided to stop doing these weekly goal posts and just do them monthly. Because I have too many other ideas for posts and have not been feeling these weekly wishes lately. (The link-up community is pretty cool, though.)
San Diego is getting hit with our annual rainstorm this weekend. To make East Coasters hate us even more, I’m celebrating the rain because massive drought. Although I’m for damn sure not going outside or driving until I absolutely have to.
Last week was crazy busy again with some more assignments and projects (woot!). And getting back into House of Cards. And some hoppy yoga at Mission Brewery, followed by a beer/Girl Scout cookies pairing that turned into a (relatively tame) improvised bar crawl through North Park. I was A) thrilled that I could convince myself I didn’t have any pressing errands or chores or tasks and therefore could roll with the random day drinking and B) nostalgic for the days in college when there was no internal debate whatsoever and C) regretting I didn’t take advantage of those days more when I was in college. Adulthood can be a bitch sometimes.
Last Week’s Wishes
01 | meditate
7 for 7, baby! Like planned, I kept it super simple — 5 minutes of just sitting quietly, breathing, and trying to just let thoughts flow in and out of my mind without engaging with them or dwelling on anything right before bed. I tried a guided meditation through YouTube once and it was alright.
And, maybe I’m crazy, but I swear by Wednesday I noticed I was feeling more alert and energized throughout the day. Don’t know if it’s because of meditating (which maybe is leading to better sleep?) or something else or I’m just imagining it, but energy and alertness are good.
02 | editorial calendar + blogging for my business site
BOOM. I still need to *write* the posts for the business site, and the static content is still a work in progress, but I’m finally taking steps forward with it.
03 | gym + speedwork
Oh man, I killed it this week. Two weight lifting sessions (FYI, the gym at 4:00 in the afternoon sucks. The gym at 11:30 in the morning is much calmer. I love that I have the freedom to discover that). AND on Monday I finished the lifting with a 20-minute speedwork session on the treadmill. If anyone cares, it looked like this:

03 | review and update old blog posts
Now that I have this new theme, I need to resize my old post photos so they fit the wider column. And I want to proofread/lightly edit some old posts and there are photos I want to switch out (replace stock/flickr photos with mine) and some other housekeeping stuff.
04 | keep up with the weightlifting/speedwork and add more yoga
I literally have to tell myself that lifting sessions are 30-40 minute (60 minutes if I hop on the treadmill too) chances to catch up on podcasts. That’s my main motivation to lift. Whatever works? And eventually I want to incorporate more dedicated speed and strength-building running workouts instead of my usual 5-6 easy medium-distance runs each week. And start using an actual outdoor track instead of the treadmill, but the gym is a lot easier to get to than any of the open-to-the-public tracks.
05 | start a blog newsletter (!!!)
I’ve been toying with this for awhile. Hesitating mainly because for the longest time, I could not figure out what the hell I’d include in a newsletter. But I finally have some ideas and need to start putting them together.
06 | pitch/query/apply for at least 15 new clients/jobs/projects
Gotta grow the business, right? (Hey, need a writer? Wanna work with me?)
07 | start sponsoring blogs, dammit
